COVID Community Fund for DC Area Children & Families
In response to rising needs of our partners at the onset of COVID-19, ERSamuels Foundation launched the Community Fund for DC Area Children and Families.
Our family foundation reached out to our extended networks, communities, and family members to join in our COVID-related response efforts. In addition to our own investment of $100,000, we raised $23,240 from our broader community of 110 donors.
This campaign kicked off on Giving Tuesday NOW (May 5, 2020) and lasted until the following Tuesday, May 12th. We were deeply encouraged by the possibility to maximize our collective funds to go towards six exceptional, pre-vetted organizations serving D.C. area children/teens and their families during the COVID crisis. Four of these organizations were former grantees of our foundation, and two organizations have come highly recommended through other foundations/grantmakers as part of our response effort.
The six grantee organizations receiving these funds are: Life Pieces to Masterpieces ; Jubilee Jumpstart ; Safe Shores; Generation Hope; Dreaming Out Loud ; and Mother of Light Center.
On our website you can find historical information about our foundation, FAQs about this campaign, and more information about the six grantee organizations who will receive every dollar of the funds raised through this campaign.
It is with incredible hope, an ambitious goal, and utmost respect for our D.C. area community in need that we welcome you, our extended community and family, to be a part of this campaign.
Let's support our neighbors, let's dream big, and let's ensure that children/teens and their families get as much support as possible during this challenging time.

Empowering Students to Implement Policy Changes Within Their Education Systems!
OLIVIA BULLIS
What if students took their education and the policy surrounding their school district into their own hands? Upon the creation of an Equity Task Force in the Bozeman School District in Bozeman, Montana, as well as hearing exclusive comments made by students, three high schoolers came together and founded the Bozeman Inclusivity Project. Drawing in a multitude of high school volunteers, as well as support from community members and organizations, the Bozeman Inclusivity Project has rolled out "demands" for what they believe will make the school environment more equitable, and keep the Equity Task Force as well as its promises in check, through outreach, education and policy implementation. The power to make change starts with one, and spreads to more. Co-Founders Mason Scurry and Olivia Bulis will be discussing their story, as well as how they've retained support and implemented policy change as well as change within their school environment, supporting the education of all.
